## General guidance only

Each page describes how reverse mortgages and the alternatives generally work for people who own homes in Burlington. Nothing here is personal legal, tax or financial advice.

Before any reverse mortgage in Canada can close, a lawyer acting only for you has to take you through it. That step is required by every lender.

## Numbers carry a date

Rates, fees, house prices and government programs all change. Pages state where each figure came from and the day it was checked. The final word on any mortgage is the lender's written offer, which rests on the lender's appraisal of the property.

## Estimates and approvals are different things

Figures from the calculator or the estimate form are estimates. Approval comes only from a lender, once it has reviewed the application itself.
